Meer over Flabby Chin Flabby Chin was founded early 2004 by Ernest Peters. He had the idea of starting his own band for a while already. Ernest started his search for band members and founded his son, Jop. A guitar player was found, on to the next members. Jop was at that time in touch with Ben Weinberg, a bass player back then. Ben joined the band and an ad was placed for a drummer. Maurice Knops responded to this advertisement and Flabby Chin (Blue Amps at that time) was complete. In an early stadium, Ben decided to leave Flabby Chin. He couldn't really find his way in the band. Thanks to an enormous coincidence, Jop and Ernest got in touch with bass player Wesley Joosten at the Oefenbunker, the rehearsal location. Wes joined Flabby Chin in May 2004. There were a couple of shows and everything went quite good. A CD was recorded in August 2004 which was presented later that year near the end of September in 't Fieljaal. After some more shows, there were some tensions in the band. Maurice Knops decided to leave Flabby Chin in January 2005 and the band was "dead" for a few months. In May 2005, Flabby Chin got in contact with drummer Koos Knorren. Koos helped Flabby Chin and decided to stay. He is considered to be a gift, till this very day! In June 2005 Jeffrey Lemmens, Flabby Chin's biggest fan, got the idea of playing the keyboard. He had played the piano for five years and was eager to continue with this. He bought a keyboard and Flabby Chin found a key player.
In the winter of 2008, Flabby Chin had to say goodbye to Koos, who departed this life in February of that year. After the first stages of mourning, the drive to make music and play live was very present once more. Therefore, Flabby Chin searched for a new drummer, leading to Ronald Jeurissen, a veteran musician and a well-known person in the blues and rock scene. Ronald joined Flabby Chin in the spring of 2008, and turned out to be a great addition.
Flabby Chin is a unique band with a unique sound. How cliché this might sound, it's true. Ernest plays his shrill Stratocaster in quite a unique way (Fleppers...) and in combination with Jop's playing, this provides a harmonious completeness. Ronald's tight and flexible style of drumming provides a solid engine running behind this that ensures a firm and alternating base. Wes' funky, tight and surprising bass lines provide a reliable foundation. Add Jeff who ensures the diversity and uniqueness of the sound with his Hammond and piano sounds. Just come and listen for yourself!
